MoonKnight Shadows received the ball and caged the ball-carrier – the expensive Count Luthor. Unimpressed by the hired star player Ann Griff lept into the cage and took down the Count with two dice against her. The Count was badly hurt and did not regenerate. The ball bounced, and Synne Buch picked it up in two tackle zones and passed it to Helle Dige Asen who was out of reach for the Necromantics and scored in the next turn.
But MoonKnight Shadows were not shaken by the early break. In a well composed offensive drive they stalled the game and went for the equalizer in the last turn of the first half. Ole Ond made the hand-off to Tore André Flo who made the touchdown.
In the second half the Bunnies would receive the ball. They were already several players short, so there was no real hope of stalling the game. But their offence could not be stopped, and a completion from Synne Buch to Helle Dige Asen secured a fast touchdown.
Again MoonKnight Shadows went for the stalling tactics in the hope that decimating the Bunnies even further on the way would secure victory in overtime. They drove down the field protecting the ball-carrier Ole Ond, and with Ann Griff out of the game badly hurt the Bunnies could not hinder the cage in reaching the endzone. Ole Ond the scorer.
Luckily for the Bunnies the first half of the overtime started with injury time, thus depriving Shadows of one precious turn in which to retaliate. The drive was stalled for one turn before Helle Dige Asen made the touchdown on Synne Buch’s completion. 3-2 for the Bunnies.
In the second half of overtime one big choice remained for Shadows: Should they go for the victory here and now by scoring a fast touchdown and hope to recapture the ball from the 5 remaining Bunnies, or should they go for the shoot-out dice-roll in the end? They chose the former, and the fast-moving Tore André Flo made a quick touchdown.
Then Shadows’ defence had to make the break. But unfortunately the defenders were too close to the line of scrimmage. Synne Buch kept the ball out of reach, while the 3 designated receivers ran up the pitch. With 2 go-for-its on their behalf, they prevented the defenders from standing in front of each of them. Although Helle Dige Asen was blitzed down and taken out of commission, two more Bunnies were on the loose. Line-fodder Esther Rakhel got her lucky break and scrambled towards the endzone. Synne Buch then ran as far as she could and hurled a long bomb into the endzone and the hands of the waiting Esther Rakhel. 4-3 the final score in an extremely intense match which saw 3 necromantic players expelled for fouling.
