In front of a season record crowd of 138000 spectators the two teams lined up for the final. With a team rating almost twice as big as Slians Family’s, Blood Bowl Bunnies looked hot favourites.
The four handicap rolls were to no real avail for the Halflings who had to rely on brute force to stop the agile Elves. Let it be said, the Halflings did incapacitate 10 Elves thus totalling their own season record casualty toll. But the casualties came too late, and in the meanwhile the Halflings were totally unable to do anything which involved the ball.
The Bunnies started out with a one-turn touchdown by Thora Rulle, and from then on only defensive touchdowns were scored.
A cage could not stop Ann Griff from knocking down the ball-carrier twice, and the second time around the ball was not recovered by the Halflings. Instead Thera Π got hold of it and completed to Metha Stase who made it 2 – 0.
Again Slians Family could not cover the ball, as they were haunted by rolls of ones and twos when they tried to handle the ball. A final attempt to recover the ball was thwarted as Godfather took root at the crucial blitz. A dirty player was expelled for a foul, and the Halfling master chef had to follow him to the locker room, as he tried to influence the referee, thus depriving his team of two re-rolls in the next half. And while the chef and the referee were arguing, Helle Dige Asen had walked the ball into the endzone. 3 – 0.
In the last turn the Halflings once again failed to pick up the ball, thus missing out on the opportunity of scoring a one-turn touchdown.
The second half picked up where the first one ended. The grinding of a Halfling cage was stopped in its tracks as Mama Slians took root. The Bunny wizard decimated the cage, and Thera Π recovered the ball for the Bunnies. Two turns later it was in the hands of Thora Rulle who made it 4 – 0.
By then the game was settled, and Slians Family chose to exploit on their getting the ref by inflicting casualties rather than playing ball. By then they started to decimate the Bunny lines, but it came too late, and none of the injuries inflicted were permanent. The little chubby ones were so caught up in the carnage, that they did not notice Thora Rulle who picked up the ball and made it 5 – 0.
The last few turns ended in the same way. Metha Stase failed a last minute dodge which would have made it 6 – 0, but by then no one really cared about the score.
The Bunnies lived up to their roles as favourites and passed with flying colours. 5 – 0 in the greatest victory ever seen in a final in the Aros League.
