The two teams Zhatan's Disciples and Shadows of Sorcery clashed in the quarter final. Both teams where pretty unhappy with the draw and had hoped to stay clear of each other until the final. For the match Zhatan's Disciples reluctantly chose to hire a wizard whereas Shadows of Sorcery used all their money to bribe the officials so their manager Altor Archmage could take to the field, wielding powerfull magics.
The shadows had really prepared themselves for the match and Wilhelm von Wither had taken steroids increasing his strength for the match, whereas Lintorf Longshade had gained the block skill by training extensively before the match. On the other hand Zhatan's Disciples only niggling failed and they would have to play without Maitos
The game started with the shadows receiving. And after a couple of blocks and blitzes they tried to foul Grongni to get him of the pitch, this did, however only result in him being stunned. The next turn the disciples moves the main part of their players to the flank which had been blitzed open, and with a couple of block and moves DP Petrarius was removed from the pitch. This move left the other flank open, and after a pass Altor Archmage was running down towards the EZ. The next turn the vamps got free and Altor was moving further down, bur by a stroke of luck for the disciples Gyntius missed a go-for-it with a reroll leaving the ball-carrier wide open. The next turn Altor was blitzed by Volthas, but he failed his dauntless even after rerolling and rolled a skull. The path was open and following a blitz Altor made it 1-0 for the vamps. Though they were left diminished and without rerolls. For the rest of the half, the slow moving dwarven cage moved down the pitch, everfolowed by the vampires who always seemed to lack the very last bit of luck to get down the ballcarrier. This didn’t succeed until turn 8 when Baltus Blackmage finally managed to get down Lilach who had put himself in front of the cage. A lucky scatter moved the ball back through a few players and landed it I a great position for a pickup and TD. Which is exactly what happened next as Khakhistos stormed down and picked up the ball scoring for 1-1. The first half was over and all looked to favour Zhatan's Disciples.
In the second half Zhatan's Disciples were receiving. They quickly managed to reduce the numbers of Shadows of Sorcery to below the eleven they just managed to field. The defence was, however incomplete mainly due to outstanding play by Zomwembius who refused to get knocked over though many dwarfs tried. So a few turns later Lintorf Longshade was running down the pitch with the ball but without much protection. The thralls were busy locking most of the dwarven players. This didn’t help much as both Lilach and Khakhistos managed to dodge free rolling the much needed pure pow to get Lintorf Longshade down. It a stroke of immense luck this also resulted in Lintorf Longshade getting stunned thus making it impossible for Shadows of Sorcery to score. The ball was lying loose and after a blitz only one tackle zone covered the ball. This made it possible for Baltus Blackmage to go and pickup the ball. Though the protection was improved for him a two dice blitz wasn’t hard to get. This didn’t happen as the dwarven wizard chose the send a lightning blot right at Baltus Blackmage knocking him over and the ball was loose again. After a blitz a pickup and a handoff, Khakhistos was able to carry ball to the other half of the pitch, where no vamps seemed able to reach him. The use of the wizard angered Altor Archmage who chose to set lose a fireball on three players including Khakhistos. They all went down and only the apothecary saved Zhartas the Black from permanent injury. With the three dwarves out of the way Wilhelm von Wither could blitz free pickup the ball and get to cover. A cover which could not be broken, Zhatan's Disciples only managed to get Keltharos Jr. next to him. Wilhelm von Wither blitzed him and ran for the endzone, leaving most of the disciples too far away to do anything. Then came a last resort move, where a block had to take down a block dodge vampire and following that a blitz should be made with to GFI to push Wilhelm von Wither of the field. It went well, but the ball was thrown further down the pitch. After a blitz by Altor Archmage which failed Lintorf Longshade had to make a 3+ dodge then a 2+ dodge a 2+ pickup and two GFI to score… Only the pickup failed and after the RR it was successful. 2-1 shadows and only one turn left. Zhatan's Disciples tried the oneturner, and a quicksnap made it seem possible, but double skulls ended it all before it really began. The final turn was quickly over as Wilhelm von Wither decided to get even with the crowd that had previously hurt him and went of for several bites.
Final score 2-1 shadows.
Only 11 shadows are ready for the next game after the pounding that they received.
