We all want to rescue the wayward son, but since being the wayward son is THE identity of the wayward son, we can never rescue him without removing the identity, so we fool ourselves, and try anyway... never to succeed.
The Wayward Son is the evil that make us spend our resources to help the ones that can never be helped. He is the reason we spend time and effort on people who will only let us down. He is a drain on our sanity, our resources and our patience. in the long run he is the evil that makes us incapable of helping those who CAN be saved, he is the evil, that sucks us dry.
