DD was a heavy favourite against the flings, but the great food prepared by the Slians chef cook distracted DD’s players leaving them no RR for the entire match. On top of this the two mummies had a fight about who were the greatest and only one at a time would be on the pitch. Finally the flings removed more undeads than visa versa, and a great throw of a fling in the end of first half, gave the flings the chance they needed, they took it and won 2-1 to move to an unexpected place in the final!
The flings had used all their money on ingredients to steal RR (5 extra rolls 6 in all to take all 5 of DD’s rolls and give them self 8). DD had freebooted Ghoul Mean’n Green in case a virus would take out Sinistra Dextre, but that did not happened and both he and Ramses the 5th were ready for the match. On the other hand the flings were not that lucky as Vincenzo Slians failed to show for the match.
DD won the coin toss and in front of 129k fans the flings kicked to DD. And what a start for DD. A quick snap gave them 8 flings to hit at. First Wolf BH Tom Slians and then Erik killed Michael Slians and no apo for him. But that was all the cas DD made in that half and soon the flings started to kick back.
The ball was safe with Mean Midget but when Wolf was BH by Pablo Slians and Benno Brausekopf II was fouled BH by Luca Slians and both failed to regenerate the score were tied. And then the heavy coffee drinking tree Mama Slians jumped up to block Ra (who had taken the pitch in the first drive) and when she did not get him down at first she simply frenzied him down and BH him. The mummy did regenerate but after that failure he did not consider himself the greatest anymore so Ramses the 5th took the pitch in subsequent drives.
With a further KO on DD, they were down to 7 players and of course no RR, so with 3 turns left they did not dare to stall any longer and Mean Midget scored safely for 1-0.
A perfect kick by DD (even though they missed their kicker Benno Brausekopf II) left he ball at the side line far back on the flings pitch. But two flings ran for it and Alexander Slians managed to pass it to Pablo Slians who seemed very agile today (like he was on some kind of drugs). DD managed to make it somewhat difficult especially when Sinistra Dextre cheered on by the fans got in the way. But it was in vain as Mama Slians broke his ribs and then Pablo Slians ran up to her, and though DD fought all they could, (first Ramses the 5th BH Antonio Slians and then Mean Midget BH Luca Slians (he was saved by the apo though)), there were nothing to prevent the tree from trying to pass the fling.
But it looked like she where going to fumble when picking up the fling, but the pro tree got a hold off herself, and yes an accurate long pass (despite the heavy coffee drinking) left an easy landing for the agile fling Pablo Slians and he could comfortably tie the game 1-1 before the half time.
As neither of DD’s two KOs came in, DD could now only field 9 players for the second half, as they kicked to Slians.
However, at this point the fans decided to help DD. While the fling fans only managed to stun the sole mummy Ramses the 5th the hordes of DD fans took down 7 of the Slians including tree Mama Slians.
But the ball ended so Aliano Slians could grip it and run just out of blitzing reach, and then DD made a big mistake. Although their attempt to get Godfather down with one dice succeeded, the tree got back up next turn, and held up 4 of DD’s players for the next few turns. DD had managed to put a TZ on the ball carrier, but that was blitzed away and soon Aliano Slians seemed to be safe in a cage.
But what happened there. Mummy Ramses the 5th comes running all he can dodging into the cage, and gets a 3 dice hit at the fling. But not enough luck for DD. And although the flings failed to take the mummy down, the ball holder Aliano Slians dodges away from him and gets into a new cage.
Around this time the flings manage to KO both S. Finxter and Erik, and only a few of DD’s players can move freely. On top of this DD’s ghouls fail all 3 dodges they tried during this half, whereas the flings only missed a last turn dodge once.
At this point all three of DD’s tackle players and two of their three guards are of pitch, and the action has now moved away from the “I’m the greatest” mummy. So only two ghouls can try to attack and as said their dodges did not work. And although Ramses the 5th did BH agile Pablo Slians, Aliano Slians was out of reach with one turn left, and then he scored the winning TD for 1-2.
DD got one turn left to display their dismay with this, for them, terrible match, and first their fans threw a rock BHing dirty player Luca Slians, and then the three flings at the LoS was removed one at the time: Ramses the 5th took his 3rd BH of the day when he smacked down Paulie Slians. Then the Mean’n Green freebooter Ghoul SI Alexander Slians MNG and finally downed Cristoffer Slians was the victim of a frustration turn 16 foul by dirty player Xorn and the fling obtained a niggling.
So even though the cas score of 9-4 seems rather good for DD, it was only 5-4 before the very last turn, when all hope had already faded for DD…
Luckily for the flings it was only 3 rookies that will be missed for the next match (or forever) and with 80 k earning they have money to use for ingredients and spare flings for the final. DD earned 60 k and neither team gained or lost fans.
The MVP of course went to Aliano Slians for scoring the winning TD, and for this he learned a new skill as did the agile Pablo Slians for his TD and his casualty. DD’s MVP went to Enasni the Death Eater for his last turn completion?
Last year a gobo team took out DD in the final to win the title, should the gobo champ now be succeeded by a fling champ? With their display of skill (and luck) this play-off it looks like they have a 50% chance there. ;)
