On paper it looked like an even match, until you notice it is not TV 2.520.000 against 2.570.000 - but against 1.570.000. So TV2 had almost a million to induce for against DE! So they had everything - a wizard, three bribes, two babes, two apotechs and the chef, and still they had 50 k to spare… (nothing to use it on!)
Still during the first four-five turns of the half the fear of the wizard gave the gobos a small chance, and they followed DE in outtakes. Of course the Chef had forgotten his food at home, so each team had five RR during first half, but the extra apotechs came in handy, as first Troll Niels Bohr Jr. was killed in the first turn by Achare Lifebane and later Holger Bech Nielsen Jr. was BH by Morvian Hellstrike. The teams own apotech cured the troll, whereas a hired quacksalver was used on the saw. A bribe then kept him on the pitch for the next drive.
But as the chainsaw him self took out a blitzer KO and two other followed him, TV2 had 9 vs. 8 players on pitch, when Sir Isaac Newton Jr. took down the ball carrier. The ball bounced to the crowd and was thrown back to the centre of TV2's pitch, where Richard Feynman Jr. managed to get it - but there where no way to make any cage.
Even though the only KOed gobo came back (as did all three KOed elves before 2nd half), TV2 only had 11 players to field for the last turn, and thus both their secret weapons had to be on pitch. And slow Stephen Hawking Jr. was not deemed worthy of a bribe after the failed one turn attempt (the troll Niels Bohr Jr. fumbled the pass of Thomas Edison the 2nd.)
Although the second bribe worked on chainsaw Holger Bech Nielsen Jr. TV2 could only field 10 when receiving for 2nd half, and even the KOed elves all came back. At least the chef was back in business and cooked two RR from DE to TV2. The nice smells caused a pitch invasion where the fewer but madder gobo fans managed to take as many elves down as the elf fans took down gobos (3).
As if three out of 10 down wasn't bad enough for TV2 Albert Einstein Jr. was really stupid, and that was the good news. Cause next turn, when he where bright enough to blitz, he went down along with a elf lino…As this was the first action it left the ball carrier completely open and this resulted in a quick TD for 2-0 by Narquelle Venomblade. But that was first after another failed chainsaw attack (a foul on a stunned blitzer that kept him stunned). And then once again Holger Bech Nielsen Jr. was BH by Morvian Hellstrike. This time the last apotech was not used!
Thus it was down to 9 players for TV2 as they again received. And soon again Albert Einstein Jr. took him self down along with a elf lino. This time however, the poor elf N´kari Deathstriker was BH by the Troll (who learned Grab from that). However, the elf did not go lightly, and he SI the Troll right back at him! Of course the Troll failed to regenerate, and the apotech was still kept in reserve. One might wonder if the gobo coach had given up already and just tried to save the team? At least if this was the last match, a MNG would have no impact on the next match in another season!
Finally TV2 remembered the wizard, and decided to just throw the fireball over four top players, including both witch elves. It worked better than average, taking two players down, stunning one and BHing Narquelle Venomblade. But this 2nd cas, was the last TV2 managed to inflict. At this point they where themselves down to 7 vs. 11 elves.
In the last turns TV2 only had 5 players, and managed nothing, even the ball lay free, and this resulted in a final completion by rookie Davien Malice. From that he learned to dodge. Another late completion by another rookie - K´chera Slate - made him a better guard. Also a 1st half completion by Bael Stormwrath gave a skill as the agile now star player elf lino learned to leap!
Of course the fans left the gobos for the Dark Elves, who looks like a dead favourite to take the trophy this season. But - hey - they also looked like that in season 18…
For TV2 the mere fact that they made it into the play-off was a substantial feat in it self, and loosing to the highest valued team in the league, when you cannot even use you inducement to hire stars, is probably not something to be ashamed off? But hey a loss is a loss - crap ;)
