A very even match ended deservedly tied 1-1 in the games last turn. The advantage that DD might seem to have vaporized in a fireball thrown by the freebooted wizard of Renegades, and in the end DD needed help from their fans to take the tie home.
More than two and a half times as many DD fans had shown up to the match as Renegade fans, but still less than 80k saw the game in the nice weather. But the many DD fans should prove vital for the result of the match.
Both teams were lacking players after their matches against Blood Bowl Bunnies but as the players with old injuries showed up, both teams had 14 players. But Renegades also hired a wizard.
DD received and quickly send the two break tackling saurus into the KO box, and Argos fouled Slick Snakeeyes to death. The apo failed to notice this (maybe because the skink's AG was only 2?). So the ball was safe in a cage in turn two and DD was 11 vs. 8 players. But then the lizard wizard did his magic and a fireball took down ball carrier Enasni the Death Eater, mummy Ramses the 5th and stunned Cynical Cypher. The ball bounces in a good direction and Hark StompFoot managed a long pass, and although it was inaccurate it ended almost out of reach of any DD player. Before that Swamp Whirlpool had killed Wolf who regenerated.
Only one DD TZ was put on the ball, and when that was removed, Swamp Whirlpool gripped the ball and ran out of blitzing reach. And then Renegades finally revenged their dead skink when Dragon Breath’s breath killed Xorn, and from that there was no regeneration possible!
With a couple of skinks following after Swamp Whirlpool (amongst other Hark StompFoot who escaped from a diving tackling Enasni the Death Eater) DD didn’t even manage to put a TZ on Swamp Whirlpool due to a failed go for it, but first after Ra had multiple blocked both a saurus and Kroxigor Kothoga "Beast" Slowitz. The latter was BH by this, and the apo dared not to take the field. But then Swamp Whirlpool could score in DD’s receiving turn 4. 0-1.
DD was not too lucky in the next drive, and in the end they had to give up any hope of tying and instead focus on keeping the score 0-1 after the ball carrying ghoul had been sacked once again. But DD had managed to put 2 skinks permanently in the KO box and also Ra made yet another BH this time on Hauch Ironfist. (Renegade’s PealClaw Gutter had also BH Squiil: a Zombie but he regenerated).
The many DD fans was very displeased about the outcome of first half, and suddenly they invaded the pitch attacking the only 10 Renegade players fiercely. Half of the lizards were send to the ground stunned. In the process a few of DD’s own players also went down but it was 9 vs. 5 standing players.
This was definitely a great help for DD, and even though Tiamat Twister managed to keep the ball out of blitzing range, and managed to escape diving tackle Enasni the Death Eater in a run down pitch his attempt to pass the ball out of reach of DD was fumbled.
DD recovered the ball, but Cynical Cypher was then taken down by BloodStone Scales. But he went down himself. Once more DD managed to grab the ball, and when Swamp Whirlpool was tackled in an attempt to dodge away from Wolf he were SI. It looked good for DD, but Hark StompFoot was impossible to get down, and any attempt to score early to go for the win was discarded. And suddenly DD had to fight to tie, as Dragon Breath dodged and blitzed ball carrier Mean 'n' Green down. Luckily for DD the ball bounced into several TZ, and once more DD griped the ball. And this time Hark StompFoot was finally taken down by Mean 'n' Green who SI the little skink. Now the apo finally woke up, but he was too sleepy and missed his attempt to cure him. When DD then KOed Luna "Piranha" McGrath in their second last turn, clearing the pitch from skinks, and knocked down almost all sauries, Enasni the Death Eater could run down next to the EZ, where no Renegades could interfere, and in the last turn he tied the match 1-1.
Both teams earned 30 k, and their fans stayed with them. The MVP for DD when to Argos for inflicting a kill (in a foul!) and Luna "Piranha" McGrath got Renegades MVP for being the last skink on pitch in second half. Only new skill went to Swamp Whirlpool who will learn this during his involuntary match break.
