Emmy Grant is an old folk song hero – almost identified with the American Spirit itself. She was one of the early settlers to arrive on the American continent from Europe. In America she was one of the original settlers to settle the prairie, eradicate the buffalo and force the Red Man into reservations. The first of many folk songs written about her was actually the one which established the link between her and her present team. Namely when her boyfriend, who was left behind when she emigrated, wrote the touching ballad “My Bunny is over the Ocean”. Her long line of descendants have played a great role in American history. For example former President and civil war general
Ulysses Simpson Grant stems from her. The latest folksong written about her is sung by
Bob Dylan on his “John Wesley Harding” album and just carries her name as its title. True to her musical legacy she chose to form companionship with fellow actor John Wesley Hard-On when she entered the Playball troupe of actors.
She entered the team before the second round match of season 15 and was retired just before the final of season 15. She played a total of 9 matches for the team.
She was the first on the team to make an interception. She was the first player on the team to gain star player points in all of the five ways possible. She was part of the gross troupe of season 15 thus giving her a share of the championship.
From Bob Dylan’s “John Wesley Harding” album:
“I pity the poor Emmy Grant
Who wishes she would've stayed home
Who uses all her power to do evil
But in the end is always left so alone
That woman whom with her fingers cheats
And who lies with ev'ry breath
Who passionately hates her life
And likewise fears her death.
I pity the poor Emmy Grant
Whose strength is spent in vain
Whose heaven is like Ironsides
Whose tears are like rain
Who eats but is not satisfied
Who hears but does not see
Who falls in love with wealth itself
And turns her back on me.
I pity the poor Emmy Grant
Who tramples through the mud
Who fills her mouth with laughing
And who builds her town with blood
Whose visions in the final end
Must shatter like the glass
I pity the poor Emmy Grant
When her gladness comes to pass”
