As an opening starter in season XV DD devoured the orcs from GG making it three out of three matches in which they never let the orcs even get close to their EZ.
However, this time the undeads also had all the luck with the amour rolls. During the first drive the orcs armour held up only slightly better than halfling armour and most of the team were send off before DD scored for 1-0 in GG’s receiving. However, they kept coming back and never began a drive outnumbered.
The two teams were evenly matched on paper, but when the orcs received at the first kick-off they were missing their most agile blitzer Fleischer who missed the match due to an old injury.
Two quick SI were delivered by DD, first by Ramses the 5th and then in a foul by Argos, so Knochenhauer had a concussion and Henker fractured his arm and both will have to miss the next match.
The pivotal moves came in the middle of first half, where in the same turn Ramses the 5th fractured the leg on troll Fleischhammer so badly that the apo had to help him from becoming a cripple keeping him on pith, thus enabling Argos to jump in for his second follow up cas after Ramses the 5th when he fouled the troll BH. The troll did not get enough yet, though, and had regenerated in time for the next drive.
At this time the orcs cage were falling apart and soon Lex Liche ran off with the ball, and in turn 5 he passed it to Sinistra Dextre in the EZ who hence took DD to 0-1.
At this time GG only had 6 orcs on pitch (4 cas (one apoed), a KO and a crow push out had removed 5) and all of them were lying down. But only the two SI orcs were not ready for the 2nd drive so the orcs still had 12 men ready.
Due to the excessive mess from all the fallen orcs the ref extended the half with an extra turn, but this did not help the orcs that in the end of the half actually needed a little bad luck on DD’s side (amongst other a thrown out DP Argos) not to fall behind 0-2.
In second half DD were in command and had the ball safely in a cage the whole half. The ref was punished for his incompetence. Both by DD’s fans for throwing Argos out, and by GG’s fans for not doing it earlier. His replacement was hence not much interested in the game after this.
DD’s other DP Xorn used this to his advantage and soon the orcs were outnumbered again, and finally the troll Fleischhammer was fouled BH again and this time he had finally gotten enough for one game.
DD’s mummies held the rest of GG in check as ball carrier Mad Max handed the ball to S. Finxter close to the EZ, and none of the orcs could even get close to him, before he settled the match in the last turn for 0-2.
DD gained new fans but for some reason not at the expense of the orcs? 70 vs. 50 k where earned form the large gate.
The orcs never managed to remove any of DD’s players from the pitch, although the ref took care of one, whereas DD made 5 cas (3 on the troll alone), 8 KOs and a crowd push out. But 7 of the KOs came right back in.
So the orcs should practise a little more violence, and just praise their luck that no real damage was inflicted to their team.
DD it seems, has already forgotten their miserable end to last season, and are now just looking forward to their next match against green skins (case on that occasion it will be against the smaller version) were they probably still will have some unsettled business…
