True to tradition Bunnies and Renegades delivered a high-scoring match. Both teams had to rely mostly on offence to stay in the match, and hope their defence might catch a lucky break. Let it be said: Renegades had by far the best defensive strategies - Bunnies just had the lucky breaks.
Renegades chose to receive giving the Bunnies their first break, when the first turn of the match was a free one - namely a blitz. The Bunnies managed to cage the ball - and although the Renegade defence threatened to make life a misery for the Bunnies, blitzer Ann Griff managed to dodge free and run to the endzone using some fancy moves.
The two teams then scored in their respective drives. The audience held their breath as Dorian Gray stretched star quarterbunny Synne Buch to the ground. For several seconds she was clinically dead, but Bunny apothecary Bandha Ghista managed to resuscitate her much to the delight of the Bunnies as she played her best match ever. Much upset with the kill linebunny Ru Tine chose to use her move the following turn to exact vengeance. With a blitz she made the Bunnies' first kill ever - giving Dorian what he deserved. Since he already had a niggling injury, the Renegades' coach chose to let the apothecary stay on the sideline and have poor Dorian stretchered out to the grave.
With one turn to go of the first half Renegades lined up for a one-turn touchdown, and the Bunnies lined up to prevent it. Another blitz gave them every opportunity, they cornered the ball, but failed to catch it. Amazingly Nebril Neverscatter managed to dodge in to get the ball and throw it out regardless of the tackle-zones on each roll. The push-backs were also succesful, and Renegades managed to score a nice one-turn touchdown. Bunnies' attempt to copy that effort was thwarted by a kick-off roll of perfect defence.
The second half started the way the first one ended - the two teams managed to score in their own drives. Until the score 5-4. Then otherwise infallible Nebril Neverscatter chose to fumble the ball on a double 1. The Bunnies then caged the ball - and despite a valiant attempt, Renegades never got hold of the ball again during that drive. 6-4 the final score, as Renegades were not able to make an additional one-turner.
A really exciting match packed with action from the start to the end. Bunnies had the crucial luck, as they were on the way forced to make two 4+ passes, and one 5+ in order to complete. On top of that they had several hard dodges to make. But this was just a lucky dice day. Also each team made several interceptions which were all cancelled by safe throw.
