Two seasons after their very first defeat, the Woodwatchers took a terible revenge over their nemesis the undeads from Deadly Doom, as they beat the dying sh*t out of them in every possible way.
In both teams very first match in Aros Deadly Doom - Woodwatchers(season XI, round 1) DD's mummies handed out 3 nigglings to the linemen of WW, two of these are still in the team today and they both got back at DD. By the way, all niggling players on each team showed up to the game.
As usually the reciving Welfs scored the first TD in turn 2 (0-1 by Elrond Haraldir) and the only good DD did was pushing out a catcher who was only stunned.
After the TD DD managed to sneak a 12th players on the pitch, but alas this 12th player was thrown off almost emidiatly when Argos was discovered when his foul BH Brave Cowart and he was send off. For some reason the ref did then not mind that the welf dirty player Nimrodell Joyrider got back on the team who game him his first niggling when he killed the other DD dirty player, Conan, in a foul.
It did, however, look like it could be hard for the Welfs to get the ball from Ramses the 5th who had the ball after a bad kick gave DD a touch back. But alas, some terrible play by DD's coach gave WW a chance to put two guards on the mummy, and a one dice blitz by Arnarion Starglazer II downed the mummy. The ball bounced a bit, and first on the second try did the wardancer catch it, and continued his blitz by running of with the ball.
It looked like a sure 2-0 TD in turn 5, but Arnarion Starglazer II keept the ball, and this was a big mistake, as there were several holes in the half cage around him. It took a mummy and all three Ghouls to get a two dice blitz, but it worked and using a RR the ball carier was smacked down, and the ball ended on the ground. It would though have been easy for the Welfs to grab it back, had it not been for a failed dodge (double 1), and suddenly DD was back in the game, having the ball with Eata Corpus.
He was soon taken down one dice, but the ball bounced to Bram Stoker, and he caught it. Somehow he was then pushed out of a big crowd of welfs, but when he ran for the pass, it was very much inaccurate, and ended up 4 squares from the target. And then nothing could prevent Jelly Fastlegs from scoring: 0-2.
Second half was a nightmare for DD. First of all Conan was to wrecked to regenerate, and thus plays BB no more, and later Devlin Hellgal was killed by Arnarion Starglazer II. The treeman who arived in time for second half from his woods, first fractured Bram Stoker's leg giving him a niggling, and later BH Wolf. Both of these also failed to regenerate.
Meanwhile DD's players could not keep the ball for long, as the wardancers came in from all direction, never using a RR for their leap or one dice blocks on the ball carier, who always were downed, and it was soon 0-3 by Loudmouth Glassjaw.
In the final drive, DD desperately tried to make a completion to at least get a chance to run the ball up field (and get a spp), but when The Green Ghost made a go for it, he fell even with a RR and was instantly BH.
The ball was hence picked up by a welf cather, but he was smacked down by Eata Corpus, but the ghoul then failed to pick up the ball, and there were no defence left to prevent Arnarion Starglazer II from scoring for 0-4 in the games last turn.
DD never made a single SPP, and the MVP deservedly went to rookie Ghoul Devlin Hellgal post post humt. ;)
For WW the MVP of course went to Sirahn Witchslayer for his curage to get up against the mummies who gave him his niggling. By the way his first spp ever in more than 20 matches.
Although not that many fans showed up, they cheared most of the time for DD, and decided to stay with the team. No new fans came to WW in spite of their fantastic game, and they are still one of the least popular teams in Aros, as opposed to DD who are the most popular!
At least both teams made decend winnings of 50/40 k, and especially DD will need it to repopulate their roster after this devastating defeat!
