It was a hard worked victory for Deadly Doom, as they in the end took home the expected win over Bloodfist Bowlers. Both DDs TDs came in the last turn of the half, and in both situations dice rolls needded to be made. But it worked and from beeing 0-1 midways in the first half, DD worked their way back to secure a 2-1 victory. But it came at a price, as Snufitt Wice damaged his back in a hard encunter with Zar-Gor Headbutt.
A Chaos Warrior fan convinced the coach of BB to let him play for the team for the match. So it was 5 warriors and although all rookie, Balthazar Vice had trained so intense for this match, that his blocking skills had obviously improved for the game.
Deadly Doom's new kicker Brill took a bad kick and made it good by putting the ball in BB's end zone. But by turn 3 they were on their way down towards DD's end zone. At this point DD's players swarmed the cage, but a go for it by dirty player Argos, who tried to foul a knocked over Warrior, failed and he was KOed. Re-roll already spend on another go for it.
In turn 4 the BB cage is now far down the pitch, and only two DD players have reached it, as another ghoul falls in a dodge. Hence it only takes one go for it (without re-roll) and a two dice block without block, to clear the path for Khazrak Umbash, who makes the first TD of the match to 0-1.
Another bad kick, this time by BB, goes straight out, and the touch back is given to The Green Ghost. And then the DD train tries to break through BB's defences. It is, however. slowed down, and hence a hand off to Eata Corpus and a couple of quick change of sides, confuses the slower Chaos team. However, a hughe opening for BB occurs, when The Green Ghost fails to catch another hand off back, and soon a beastman’s TZ is on it.
In the end The Green Ghost makes up for his mistake by knocing the beastman over and Eata Corpus played it safe and scored himself after picking up the ball.
1-1 after first half
The KOed dirty player Argos comes back for the second half, where BB again has a bad kick. For the second time the touch back is handed to The Green Ghost. BB’s numbers are quickly reduced by two early KOs and a foul by dirty player Argos actually KILLS Mourndark Pox. The apotech cures him and then he procedes to blitz the dirty player, but the skeleton stays on his feet, only to push out the warrior next turn.
So already by turn 3, DD is now 11 vs 8, and although 3 double skull and a single skull steals 4 re-rolls over the nex 5 turns, BB also follows one of those doubles up with their own double skull. As their only re-roll was spend in turn 1, this leaves most of the team in DD's TZ, for both turn 5 & 6, and after each of these turns only two BB players are left standing.
In turn 6 The Green Ghost runs to the other side of brick wall Ramses the 5th to be close to the end zone and a nice defence is set up.
In turn 7 DD then tries to secure The Green Ghost one step from the end zone, but the third double skull steal DD’s last re-roll. (A single double skull the other way was all the bad blocking BB had, even without re-rolls or block, and two times taking 2 against and some 1 dice block on the mummies, almost always getting the mummies down. The two times 2 against was first with block against no block and 1/4 chance of getting him down, but the second was without block against block/stand firm with only 1/9 chance of any succes at all. So the bad block dice definitely belonged to DD!).
After the doube skull, DD still needed to go for it twice with a zombie to be able to take some 1 dice blocks on warriors, but of course he failed. DD only managed to go for it without re-roll in one turn! And twice they fell on go for it after a re-roll had been spend. So the go for it is really not a tactic DD should try. It was really DD who had the unlucky dice, and in the end needed to work hard for the bitter sweat victory.
Bitter sweat, because in the following turn, Zar-Gor Headbutt made the SI on Snufitt Wice to get his TZ on The Green Ghost. Luckily for DD a dodging warrior came up with a 2, and fell on his head.
Hence all that was needed was a blitz with a two dice block with block to free The Green Ghost and win the match. But with 3 double skulls in 5 turns, this did not seem so nice without a re-roll. But only 3 assist was free, and 4 was needed to make it a three dice block. Then Ramses the 5th remember that he did not need to fear falling with his Stand firm. And although he would have loved to kill Zar-Gor Headbutt who occupied him, he was not allowed by Necromancer Kynde, and then he made the dodge on 5+ roling a 6, and the three dice blitz by Lex Liche was a reality and a succes and The Green Ghost scored the winning TD for 2-1.
Zar-Gor Headbutt was of course elected for MVP on BB for making the only real casaulty of the match, whereas The Green Ghost of course was MVP for scoring the winning TD. No one made any real cas on DD! (Again!!!) These two players was also the only ones to learn new skills.
For some reason the DD fans loved it, probably due to the very intense finish, and hence even more will come for next match. The BB fans did like that they made the only real cas on DD, and decided to stay with the team.
DD only earned 20 k vs a whole 70 k for BB.
At the end of the day the result came up with what was expected, but the match result was never given until the last TD was scored!
