This season opening match was also the first league game for both teams, and even though Mighty Vikings had an established fangroup, Changers of Faces swayed the audience from start.
Mighty Vikings won the coin toss and elected to receive and from the start the Vikings showed impressive ball control when Hagni threw the ball to Ingólf, who then made a run for it down the sidelines. Changers of Faces responded the only way they knew - with violence, and managed to stop the norse runner and to push him into the crowd. Fortunately for Ingólf the crowd has caught unaware and he was able to limb into the reserves box. The ball was thrown in on the norse side of the field, but this time the pass from Járni to Falgeirr failed. Gestix used the confusion to push Hagni into the crowd, and this time the crowd was ready and knocked him out. The ball had once again strayed into the audience, but this time it ended up on the chaos side of the field, and one of beastmen got the bright idea to try and pick it up, but since he had no training in this kind of thing, he failed miserably. By now the tension between the teams had intensified and a fight broke out in the middle. Baldur managed to badly hurt Insulta. On the chaos side of the field, Greggor the Horrific decided to teach the puny beastmen a lesson in ball handling, and picked up the ball and began rushing towards the endzone. The rush was met with some resistance, but the Vikings were dealt with and another lineman was knocked out. Near the endzone, Greggor the Horrific once again decided that he must show his team the way, and passed the ball to Kragor the Terrifying who then ran the ball in for the TD. The end of the half drawing near, the Norse decided to teach the opponents a lesson in violence, but failed in getting the point through. Gestix, however, was able to get in a lucky punch which badly hurt Baldur
In the second half Changers of Faces received the ball, but before anyone could get to the ball, Gestix managed to get himself thrown out (totally without fault) when the referee postulated that he might have tried to foul a norseman. The following turn Fyx managed to pick up the ball, and in the ensuing rush for the endzone one viking and two chaos players were knocked out. Near the endzone Mighty Vikings had managed to box in the chaos ball cage, but Hixxer managed to break a hole in the defense when he badly hurt Ingólf. Fyx used the opportunity to sprint into the endzone. The norse were then again to receive, but a lucky kick mean the ball ended up in their own endzone, and when Falgeirr tried to pass the ball forward he fumbled. In the closing seconds of the half Kragor the Terrifying managed to badly hurt Lofi, while Hixxer managed to pick up the ball and pass it to Fyx.
After the game Gestix was awarded the chaos MVP for being the first to draw Norse blood, while Falgeirr was awarded the Norse MVP for excellent play.
