The most even match in the quarter finals, with a one season team (RL) vs. a two season team (BL). To even the difference RL hired a chef and two babes.
In the first half the chef only worked a third of his potential magic, but as the brilliant coaching was RL's coach (and later cheering fans also for them) and when BL's players could not block for the life of them, they first lost ball possession in their receiving drive, when a dodge failed after a bad block, and next the first block also failed - all RR spend. So the chef worked well enough, and to make maters worse another 1 on the first dodge prevented any attempt to stop Cutter Mcgraw from scoring for 0-1 at the end of the half.
Total trouble maker for BL was their super blitzer Korbjørn Thaels who failed the crucial block and then failed his dodge to stop the TD! And although only two KOs came during the half, the one on BL came on no other than Korbjørn Thaels when he failed his last minute dodge and he failed to wake up for 2nd half!
A quick exchange of KOs, most prominent on agile werewolf Cutter Mcgraw and a stun on the other wolf at the side line gave hope back to BL. But then when tackle Dolf Ryrbye could take down a ghoul with a go for it to get next to ball the carrier, he failed even though he used the teams only remaining RR after the chef did his magic to perfection!
Instead assisting goblin Momas Thørk who played his first drive ever, was blocked down (for the first time in his short carrier) by the target of the failed blitz Fumble fingers and killed! A quick retaliation by Dolf Ryrbye who killed Zenodotus evened the score (although the Wight regenerated!) And then strong thrower Noels Trielsen took down DeWey Mcgraw and the ball went to the crowd, and was then picked up by Dolf Ryrbye. Could BL tie the game?
No! He was then blitzed down and Butter Fingers dodged out and ran with the ball. Not thinking quite straight and having seen what happened to the wolf the turn before, he ran all he could for the EZ. This worked and the TD was home for a 0-2 lead, but there was still enough time for BL to equalize, and had the ghoul just run away from Noels Trielsen in stead of straight down for the TD, he could have gotten completely out of reach, thus stalling another turn.
And now Korbjørn Thaels awoke from his KO, and he and the rest of the team worked some magic. Without RR and in just two turns the ball had been moved from the right side of the pitch close to LoS for a TD. First a pass from Norten Mielsen to agile Muds Maff who then handed it to Korbjørn Thaels gave him a chance to run into range. Also two other blitzers was along and the ball was safe. Next a dodge by Korbjørn Thaels enabled him to blitz his was for the EZ and that gave him the TD after two go for its: 1-2 - with time enough for one more TD!
And then a perfect defence and a ball deep down made it possible. But in the end Korbjørn Thaels once again let the team down with a failed dodge, thus no player from BL came in range.
In stead RL had a chance for getting it to 1-3. And to get there H.O.Lange killed Sulrik Vendsen luckily for BL he was healed by the apotech… at least he will be ready for next season! But the short pass was then inaccurate, and that was bad for RL! Cause in their last turn BL made two casualties that could not be regenerated, and worst it was for Flesh Golem Lhurgoyff the Lifeless who was ripped apart by the troll Der Pinesen and next the zombie Skjold Cracked Skull was SI by Jemming Flørgensen! So a very tough finish after the victory was secured. The first four casualties of the match were kill - only two permanent though!
For his TD, and not for all his failed dodges and blocks, Korbjørn Thaels received the MVP for BL!
This means that a rookie team has made it through to the semi finales - congratulations, and may Nuffle show them mercy…
