Already in the first group match of season XXI did the two finalists from last season crash together again. And this time there where no doubt who where the champs!
Nothing worked for DR during the entire match, and towards the end Dustin Dusty and Oswald Osiris almost destroyed the team.
In the first half it was almost only KOs on the rats, but 7 in all. But early on the rats actually stole the ball from the receiving Khemries. But they could not hold on to it, and in several consecutive turns they lost out on great opportunities (often with first dice roll turn-over) to retrieve the ball. In the end only one rat was left on the pitch when Erik Evil scored for 0-1. Apart from the 7 KOs a push out to stun, and two injuries had removed the last three. Uranus was BH in the 2nd foul by Dustin Dusty, after he had fouled Jesus to death. Luckily for DR the apo had saved the latter.
With 4 KOs back DR had a serious one turn attempt with 10 players. A touch back increased the chances, but a dodge into two TZ by runner Fallen Madonna was not enough.
But still 11 rats where ready, including all four runners, as DR received for 2nd half. And with a perfect cage far down the pitch and a super completion by Buddha to Jesus it looked like a sure TD for 1-1. Only a simple dodge was needed for Jesus to get into the safe cage, but alas, he failed and fell hard enough to be BH and out.
Still the ball was not given to the Khemri yet, and even when they obtained it, it was stolen back on more than one occasion. But the Khemri began making more casualties, and now they became serious indeed. Another foul bu Dustin Dusty killed of legendary Storm Vermin Zeus, he was send off for it though! But with the bounty he was probably forgiven!
Holy Spirit did get the ball from Erik Evil and next turn he got it up, and could have passed for a possible tie, but then he fumbled the simple pass, and was subsequently KOed.
With not rats left on pitch to fight for the ball, B&B could take chances and Erik Evil passed in the last turn to Nevil Noheart who then nailed the victory (and the ultimate defeat) by scoring for 0-2 in the dying seconds of the match. At least Holy Spirit received the MVP for fightning back and not getting more than KOed twice.
This was the first time DR had failed to score a TD. It took 45 games!
