To help them against the vermin's from DR the Vikings had not only hired bombardier Boomer Eziasson and super star Icepelt Hammerblow, they even had a bribe ready.
But it was not needed; as they simple removed every single rat from the pitch one by one all by themselves without help from the stars.
To begin with it started well out for the rats. They received the ball and even with a perfect defence from the Vikings, a bad kick from Harral Finnson resulted in a touch back. Jesus could then without too much trouble run the ball into scoring reach inside a cage. And when Bjørn Ingesdatter then began the Vikings turn by flattening himself against no other than Clawed Zeus it was a given TD for Jesus. Luckily for Bjørn Ingesdatter nothing happened to him, and he turned out to be the one to handle the ball for most of the remaining match.
A quick snap enabled Inge "Markhalm" Grims to step next to the landing ball, and he caught it when it bounced to him. And then he ran into a cage near the LoS. At that time two of the rats on the LoS had already been BH, Frej B by berserker Egil Uldsson and Heimdal A in a foul by sneaky git Snorre Skjoldsson. Egil Uldsson learned tackle from this!
However, a leaping Holy Spirit surprised Inge "Markhalm" Grims so much with his blitz, that he forgot to keep on to the ball with his sure hands, and the ball was striped from him. But then it bounced to Bjørn Ingesdatter who caught it. When Holy Spirit then was KOed, there were no rat that could easily get the ball from him.
A short moment DR though they could be lucky, as Muhammad blocked Icepelt, and even when on the frenzy block he became the weaker took down the troll anyway. But this annoyed fellow snow troll Rune Skyggeson and when he blitzed Muhammad it was a BH Rat Ogre that left the pitch. And that was also a 1, 1, 1 tie for the deadly trio of the Vikings. The Piling Berserker, the Sneaky Git and the Snow Troll! In total they would toll 8 of 9 casualties during this match. Rune Skyggeson became a juggernaut from taking out another one of those!
But apart from Egil Uldsson SI Loke MNG no more injuries were inflicted on DR while Bjørn Ingesdatter strolled down for the equalling TD 1-1. However, in their pursuit of the remaining gutter runners, God managed to SI Bue Snorresson. But for that he was then fouled out KO! Just before the TD was actually scored another foul was finally spotted be the ref, but then the the bribe came in handy, and the TD could be awarded after all!
Only 4 rats were on the pitch at the end of fisrt half, but with 3 KOs and 3 in the reserve box it could have been almost even. But none of the three KOed players would return, so it was 7 vs. 11 on pitch for the second half (only two runners). And after first Egil Uldsson and then Rune Skyggeson had piled on LoS players, Mars were BH and Allah were dead! This was followed when Snorre Skjoldsson fouled Madonna BH. And when Knud Eriksson later made another kill, this time on Balder A, only three rats were left!
Bjørn Ingesdatter once again had the ball. He actually failed to catch it on the LoS, but then it bounced to a touch back, and he got it anyway. With 3 rats left, he felt sure of himself down close to the rats EZ. He had placed himself next to the side line guarded by two others. But then as they were moving all the way down a mishap by star troll Icepelt could have ruined it for the Vikings. The Troll blocked Zeus and went down himself! And then a mighty blow claw broke his armour and he was BH! So much he forgot to try to regenerate!
This left Bjørn Ingesdatter unprotected on the side line with the ball. The last three rats were a long way from him, but as one of those players were also one of the fastest players in the league Jesus he were not out of reach! And Jesus did manage to get the blitz in for a possible crowd push. As Bjørn Ingesdatter already earlier had displayed his lack of blocking capabilities at the start of the match, the chance of getting the ball from him, was almost 3 out of 4, even though he had assist and were more than twice as strong as Jesus. But this was the fourth time, and instead Jesus were knocked down himself and KOed.
Then Rune Skyggeson KOed Zeus by piling on him, and Snorre Skjoldsson fouled his 3rd casualty by BH Buddha, and that was it. All 15 rats had been removed once from the pitch! (And it was 3, 3, 2 for the deadly trio with Rune Skyggeson only making it two, because the last was only a KO!)
With two turns left the Norse were looking for something to do, but there were nothing left to hit, so Rune Skyggeson was so angry he just lay on the ground and raged about the lack of victims for the remaining time. Just before the whistle sounded Bjørn Ingesdatter remembered to score for 2-1 (he learned guard from this).
For their last one turn attempt DR could only field three players, and although it was the two fastest Jesus and Holy Spirit (and the three weakest, as they had ST 2, and 1 and the last player Odin A is also down to ST 2) they needed a quick snap to have a chance.
It did not come and in dying seconds of the match Jesus made a completion, and thus became the only player to have picked up the ball this match, as two touch back and two scatter catches were the way the ball had been acquired previously.
As Jesus were the rat who had spent most time on pitch, and the one making both a TD and a completion he were elected MVP. This earned him not only the strip ball skill, but also gave him the no. 1 spot as the most experienced player in the league, just overtaking the only previous super star Holy Spirit.
Of course the MVP for the Vikings went to the most popular star Icepelt Hammerblow, even though his only achievement of the day was to get knocked down twice where he had two dices to choose from, and finally letting himself become BH!
At the end of the day the Vikings took home one more victory by removing all opponents, and the rats could feel lucky they only lost two players. They can still field a full team for their next match and it could easily have been much worse with 9 casualties!
