In front of a record tying gate the Norse Guardians met Divine Rats, a team with a lot of their Nordic Gods. The killing of Thor was too much for the Guardians and after that they failed to do anything properly against the rats, and ended up loosing 3-1 after some brilliant play by Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
To begin with the Guardians came well down DR’s pitch, as they first focused on protecting themselves against all the frenzies Norse players, and then also Muhammad decided to go bothdown alone…
But an annoying God messed up their cage, and suddenly Jupiter came in blitzing and managed to take down top-scorerEl Rapido leaving the ball “only” in 2 Norse TZ. And then Jesus had no trouble dodging and running (twice through two TZ) to pick it up. But then he could get no further. After two attempts he was hence knocked down and the ball was free. This should have been an advantage, but seeing Thor loosing his thunder was too much for the Norse.
Next kick-off an angry fan tried to hit the snow troll El Troll De Rojan but he missed and instead hit another Nordic God Tyr killing him as well. This time DR’s apo brought him back from the dead (well he is the brother of Jesus, so…), but Tyr would then not be on pitch to put his boot in the Troll!
And when Muhammad once again went “bothdown”, it could have looked bleak. But the ball, who would have landed on Tyr on the LoS had he not been removed by the rock, was given as a touch back to Jesus who were far out of reach.
Two turns later Jesus passed to his father God and a TD seemed secure, but on the first of 2 simple dodges God fell, got him self BH and left the ball in only one TZ. Disaster for DR, but when El Certezza tried to go for it to hand the ball off for a far out TD chance in the other end of the ptich, he also rolled double 1, and the ball was free again. Once more Jesus grabbed the ball and this time the pass was for his mother Madonna and she scored the tying TD for 1-1.
In 2nd half the Guardians had made a perfect defence, but the rats broke well through, and it was no problem for Jesus to pass to Madonna, who proved she had nerves of steel, catching the ball in two TZ. Two simple dodges remained, but on the second a one came up, the Gods held their breath, but this time the second roll was a 2… TD for 2-1.
Guardians know had most of a half to tie the match, but this time Muhammad managed to stay standing after a blitz, and thus got his TZ on El Rapido with the ball. This messed the cage up a bit, and left an opening. Holy Spirit was quick to use this, and just with a dodge and a go for it, he could use his dauntless to get a one die on El Rapido taking him clean down, KOing him, and leaving the ball in “only” two TZ. Jesus then ran in got the ball, and passed it completely out of Guardians reach.
Next turn, was the pivotal turn. If it succeeded the match would almost be DR’s. If it failed overtime would probably be needed. Jesus ran to pick-up his own pass, and passed it to Tyr (still alive) who then ran and handed it to Loke standing on the LoS. He did need a little help to catch the hand-off but managed. With no Norse player further down pitch than him, he just needed two go for it to be out of blitzing reach and he took this chance and managed. The victory was almost there… But a single lineman managed to reach him, so what then… Madonna could just make it down to help, and then a blitz could secure the TD, but oh no, double skull… Good thing for DR that they had a last RR, and although a both down came up, the other was a push back, and Loke scored the deciding TD for 3-1. From that he learned block.
It had really been a match of double both downs for both teams, and Odin’s wrestle came into use many times in both teams turns. Also in the last drive for Guardians, they hence tried to foul him in a last turn vengeance action, but he were only stunned and the offender was then send off ending the match like that.
So DR is now ready for the semi final and earned enough money to bring back Thor from Valhalla before the semis, of course he will now be known as Thor A just to remind him of his early visit to the great Nordic halls ;)
