The blizzard raging over the stadium did not bother the fans of C49 and almost as many 49er fans as DD fans showed up.
Nevertheless it was DD's fans that had the most fun when they invaded the pitch as DD kicked off, and 4 rats were stunned vs. 1 zombie.
This made it very difficult for 49ers, who, because of the weather, weren’t even trying to make a one turner with Pitt. When Putin tried to pass the ball for a TD, he fumbled and it looked like DD would grab the ball. But after a bad blitz (double skull), it became harder to pick up the ball, and Mr. Stone Cold failed miserably.
However, when the ball ended up in 4 TZ it seemed unlikely that 49ers should get to it. But then agile Franco leapt in and snatch the ball, dodged out, and then had to push it in the slippery conditions to get a clear view to Putin, and from there the pass was a success and the score was 0-1.
DD seemed to have enough time to tie the game, but when the rats came blitzing out it could have gone terribly wrong. But due to the bad weather (and lack of RR) the gutter runner did not dare go the last square to try and catch the ball. And then a good bounce, and the ball were lying free. Enasni the Death Eater took it and was caged.
Franco twice tried to leap into the cage and failed on both occasions, but DD could not manage to remove any rats from the pitch, until turn 6, when first a line rat was pushed into a crowd KO by S. Finxter and then Ra BH Dirk. But now time was running out and next turn Enasni the Death Eater had to run for it unprotected down the pitch. And even though Robert was blitzed down, he was still in reach with his strip ball abilities.
So before last turn he managed to do just that, and Enasni the Death Eater lost the ball. He was though lucky with the bounce, and when Robert tried to go for the ball he fell in the snow. A quick blitz freed the Ghoul, but before he ran for the TD, Ra managed to SI Manny. DD's fans held their breath while Enasni the Death Eater tried to recover the ball from the ground, but he managed and the tying TD for 1-1 was a reality.
The fans were cheering for DD when they received the ball, and soon had the ball in a cage with Enasni the Death Eater again. This time Mr. Stone Cold knew what to do from the start, and in the half’s first blitz, he KOed strip ball Robert thus removing the rats best shoot at taking the ball.
When Rat Ogre Igor tried to blitz dirty player Argos, he forgot the slippery conditions and fell right next to him. That turned out to be a bad idea, as Argos immediately fouled him BH. After a first half with only one stunning foul this should turn out to be the starting point for a fouling spree from Argos.
With only 8 rats on pitch, C49 tried to protect their one turner Pitt, to have him handy for a last turn tie. But while Enasni the Death Eater and the mummies ran the cage slowly down pitch, the remaining 6 DD players began to hunt the rats. And soon S. Finxter put his TZ on Pitt. This proved to be enough as RR were spend and Pitt failed his dodge. Nothing happened from this, but now he was within fouling reach of Argos and was send into the KO box. This was of course not good enough for DD, as he might come back in time for that last turn one turner. So DD tried to remove the remaining rats before scoring. And Argos managed two more fouling KOs without getting send off...
But even with only 3 players on pitch when Enasni the Death Eater scored for 2-1, the rats got their chance. Cause Pitt came back in along with 3 more of the 7 KOed rats.
DD tried their best to put up a strong one turn defence, but oh no the weather changed and the two go for it needed by Pitt would be much easier now. But that turned out to be indifferent, as the pressure became too much for skilled thrower Amigo who managed to fumble an easy pass, and thus ending the match in DD's favour.
Both teams only earned 20 k, but DD's fans loved it and their number increased, but not at the expense of the rats.
For some reason DD's MVP went to Ramses the 5th who failed to inflict any pain and the same could be said of Hansi who got the other MVP.
DD drew the longest straw, but even though they probably were the favourites, then when you fail to take out Pitt a tie is often the best you can hope for, so it wasn't over till the double one came out!
